The problem

Before we talk in detail about how to keep dust off car in auto detailing. First, let me help you understand the problem.

“No matter how meticulous I try to be with my car, I’ve always battling against dust on it.”

Yep, we don’t talk about a dirty car before wash here. We are dealing with dust after car wash.

  • Why my car dusty after wash?
  • Why cleaning dust car is so hard?
  • How to get dust off car quickly?
  • What is the best dust repellent for car exterior?
  • Is dust free car possible?

Is that all you questions? If so, don’t worry because we are on a same page. Dust cover on a car is our problem, too.

What are dust on a car?

Dust is a combination of small particles. In drier areas, that problem is largely dust in the air. That’s the reason why your car get dusty so fast.

FACT: Dust will eventually accumulate just from your parking and driving conditions.

Likewise, washing regularly will also help keep dust from car. But, it can’t stop dust attacking your car.

As you can see in above picture, the differences between paint color and scratch color can help you see scratches. However, we don’t have that on a white car. Because paint color and scratch color are nearly the same.

Why does my car attract dust?

You washed the car on Thursday, had it parked in your garage till today. And, by the time you got back, the car is bite the pillow fucked with dust.

The paint surfaces

First of all, let’s see the paint diagram below. We think that the paintwork and it’s surfaces are completely flat. We used to think like that. Automotive paint is so expensive, right? It should be perfect.

Sadly, as you can see, we have irregular paint surfaces. So, the chances for dirt and dust get off your car is not big. They often get stuck somewhere.

“Dark color cars seem to attract more dust and bird poop than any other color”. We agreed. But, not only black car attracts dust, white car does the same.

Why?

Because you can easily find the contrast between darker paint color and brighter dust. Don’t get me wrong. Maintaining and cleaning the exterior of a black car is a “challenging” experience. We are professional detailers and we know it for sure.

Scratches on car is another problem. They make the paint un-evenly with different types of shapes. And when dust accumulates on your car, it can’t jump out.

Wipe it out with a towel?

Yes, that’s right! You will wipe all these dust off your car in seconds. But, you will cause micro-scratches on car paint, too. You can’t rinse off dust with pressure washer everyday, right?

You will never be able to totally eliminate dust attraction. The more you clean your car, the more static charge it have. In area where humidity is low (even 10-15%), you will have a a sea of dust after car wash.

But some car care products attract more dust than others. We notice a significant reduction in dust attraction since I started using the correct quick detailer products.

How these car dust cleaner liquid work?

When you spray a quick detailer liquid, it penetrates to car paint surfaces. And it “pick up” the moisture out of the surfaces. Also, it acts as an effective barrier  against dust. These antistatic agent are trying to increase the electrical conductivity of the surface. That’s all.

FACT:

  • Car wax attracts dirt. Because under the sun, micro-particle well bonds to the wax.
  • Sealant will help prevent more dust compared to a wax.
  • Hard stuff on paint are a actually a composition of melts off dirt, bugs and grime. You should wash your car regularly.

We have in detail about How to remove dust from car without scratching at the end of this article. You can check out the recommendations for a quick clean and get dust off car quickly.

How to keep dust from sticking to your car?

The first step is to know your vehicle condition. In this article, we focus on how to reduce dust on car and how to repel dust on car exterior. Because we can’t keep car clean from dust on the the air.

The dust and air-borne contaminants in the air around your car is another topic.

Then, we will get into Step-by-Step instruction on how to get rid of dust on car.

EZ Solution 1: Deep clean detailing car wash

A deep clean removes all particles, including dust, road tar asphalt, bird drop and debris, that have settled on vehicle surfaces. Also we use car cleaner breaks down tough stains and soils embedded on your wheels, tires, and painted surfaces to bring back that sleek, sparkling finish.

Why a deep car wash cleaning?

Well, this type of hand wash is the way to get the super squeaky-clean effect in all areas. And you can check the vehicle condition after wash to select what suitable for your routine.

Always make sure to use water filtration systems that guarantee a spot-free rinse every time like us. You will impress how full deep clean car can be.

Using a car buffer to remove scratches is another solution that widely acceptable in auto detailing.

Why?

Because experienced detailers can make better reflective surfaces that can make for stunning mirror paintwork.

Many people will tell you polish bad is for your car. We agreed with this comment. Because you have to use compound to remove scratches from the clear coat. And it means that you remove a car scratch and the paint layer at the same time.

That’s the traditional polish at a body shop. We are detailers, and we don’t do like that. In auto detailing terms, we called “paint correction”.

What are the differences?

Well, the more aggressive the buffer is, the deeper it can cut. If it goes past the clear coat then it’s not good. You need to re-paint then add clear coat again. In this problem, we just need a flat surface paintwork. So, removing paint clear coat is not necessary. Our goal here is making a flat reflective surface and eliminate the places where dust can get stuck.

Professional detailers at EZ must have a paint thickness gauge to check every single time they polish a vehicle. That’s why they will need some extra time for paint correction packages.

Never never heard of ceramic coatings? Don’t worry. We are not going into detail detailing terms here. Let’s get it simple.

What Is Ceramic Coating? A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer sealant that chemically bonds to your vehicles factory paint. And it create a layer of protection above your paint. That’s a super hydrophobic surface that repels water and dirt.

Can I have ceramic coating car at home?

Yes, you can. For daily vehicles that aren’t really cared for, a ceramic coating will still be a good option as it will outlast a wax anyway. If you like to have a cleaner vehicle and less dust attraction, apply ceramic coating car is suffice.
